A33 Asti–Cuneo Motorway: the final section between Alba Ovest and Cherasco opens to traffic

As of 30 December, the A33 Asti–Cuneo motorway is fully open to traffic. With the opening of the final section between Alba Ovest and Cherasco, delivered by Itinera as general contractor, a strategic milestone has been achieved for mobility in Piedmont and for the economic development of the area.

The inauguration ceremony took place yesterday in Cherasco (CN) in the presence of Edoardo Rixi, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region, together with regional councillors, representatives of the Provinces of Asti and Cuneo, local authorities, and the top management of Asti-Cuneo, the concessionaire of the motorway section.

At this stage, the Alba Ovest–Cherasco section is open in both directions on a single carriageway per direction and, thanks to a significant acceleration of construction activities, the works will be completed by April 2026, well ahead of the contractual deadline. This result was made possible by the daily commitment of around 400 people, the coordinated work of 15 companies, and the contribution of 130 suppliers.

The A33 represents a key infrastructure supporting the agricultural, manufacturing and logistics sectors in Piedmont and across the entire north-west of Italy. Its completion confirms Itinera’s ability to deliver complex and strategic projects with reliability and efficiency, placing people, territories and the value of the supply chain at the centre.
