Itinera builds Italy’s largest indoor events Arena

Itinera, as a partner of the Eteria Consortium, which operated as executing company and general contractor, has delivered the Milano Santa Giulia Multipurpose Arena. Completed in record time, the project will play a leading role in the upcoming Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and is set to become a new benchmark for indoor sports and entertainment in Italy and across Europe.

This state-of-the-art venue, designed by David Chipperfield Architects in collaboration with engineering firm Arup, covers a total area of 77,000 square metres and has a seating capacity of 16,000 spectators. The arena will be the official venue for ice hockey matches during the Olympic Games and was designed to ensure maximum functional flexibility, allowing it to host concerts and live shows as well.

Notable features include 29 food and beverage outlets, capable of serving up to 6,000 people in just 20 minutes, and a large elevated outdoor central plaza of over 10,000 square metres, designed to host major open-air events and foster urban social interaction.

The project was completed in approximately two years of continuous construction, carried out day and night in all weather conditions. This achievement was made possible by the teamwork of Itinera’s staff, the Eteria Consortium, and all subcontractors: engineers, surveyors, masons, carpenters, site assistants, technicians and administrative personnel who contributed with commitment, dedication and professionalism to the construction of Italy’s largest indoor arena. Our deepest thanks go to all of them.
