Naples Metro Line 10: Itinera joins the consortium delivering the first section
14 January 2026Itinera is part of the consortium of companies awarded the contract for the detailed design and construction of the first section of Lot 1 of the new Naples Metro Line 10, with a total value of approximately €660 million.
The project is promoted by the Municipality of Naples and the Campania Region. Once completed, the new fully driverless Line 10 will enable more than 400,000 people to benefit from a fast and efficient connection between the northern metropolitan area and the city centre, as well as with the high-speed rail network.
The consortium is led by Webuild and includes Consorzio Stabile Eteria – of which Itinera is a shareholder – Costruire, ICM and M.N. Metropolitana di Napoli. The contract already awarded covers a first 6.5 km section (Phase 1A), while the agreement provides an exclusive right to construct the subsequent phases, subject to funding, for a total value exceeding €1.7 billion to complete the entire line.
During Phase 1A, works will involve the municipalities of Afragola, Casoria, Casavatore and Naples, with the construction of seven stations, three of which will be fully completed and four partially fitted out.
The overall alignment of Line 10 will extend for approximately 14 km, from the Napoli–Afragola High-Speed Station to Principe Umberto Station, and will be built almost entirely underground, using a combination of traditional methods and TBMs (Tunnel Boring Machines). The new line will be a key element in strengthening local public transport, as well as a strategic piece of national mobility infrastructure. The connection with the Napoli–Afragola High-Speed Station will link the city of Naples to a pivotal rail hub for mobility across Southern Italy, in view of the forthcoming completion of the Naples–Bari high-speed railway line. Along this route, Itinera is also involved in the construction of three separate sections.
