Naples–Bari HS/HC railway line, Cancello–Frasso Telesino section: two new Stations completed

A new milestone has been reached on the Naples–Bari High-Speed/High-Capacity (HS/HC) railway line. On 30 June, the new Valle di Maddaloni and Dugenta–Frasso Telesino stations were officially handed over to the Client, RFI.
Delivered by the CFT Consortium—comprising Impresa Pizzarotti, Ghella and Itinera—the project forms part of the doubling and upgrading of the Cancello–Frasso Telesino section. The new alignment extends for approximately 16.5 kilometres and includes 3 kilometres of viaducts, 4 kilometres of tunnels, and a 2.8-kilometre diversion of the historic Rome–Naples railway line via Cassino.

The new double-track railway, designed to accommodate speeds of up to 200 km/h, entered service in February 2026, marking a major milestone in the overall progress of the project.

The completion of the Valle di Maddaloni and Dugenta–Frasso Telesino stations provides passengers with two modern, accessible facilities that are fully integrated into the new railway connection. Both stations feature a distinctive architectural design characterised by symmetrical canopies that shelter passengers while waiting on the platforms and along the vertical connections to the underpass. The roof structure extends towards the forecourt, creating a covered walkway that guides passengers along the entrance and exit routes.

The project involved a total investment of approximately €500 million and employed an average workforce of around 500 people per day across the construction sites, accounting for more than 5 million working hours. More than 150 subcontractors and suppliers contributed to the project, 83% of which were based in Central and Southern Italy, highlighting the significant economic and employment benefits generated for the local area.
