Description

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Italiane Group) has awarded the temporary joint venture led by Eteria Consorzio Stabile Scarl – of which Itinera is a member – the detailed design and construction of approximately 4 km of the railway doubling along the PM228–Albacina section. The works include the removal of a level crossing and the construction of a new road system with underpasses. The project also includes the upgrading of Albacina station, covering track layout adjustments, platform refurbishment with the installation of canopies, and a pedestrian overpass designed to eliminate architectural barriers. The doubling of the PM228–Albacina section – a priority segment within the overall upgrading of the Orte–Falconara route, in addition to the Genga–Serra San Quirico section already under construction – is part of RFI’s broader plan to enhance and speed up the Orte–Falconara corridor. The programme aims to improve rail connections between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts, reduce travel times between Rome and Ancona, increase service reliability, boost the number of trains, and improve accessibility to rail services.
