Description
The project, awarded to the Eteria Consortium, of which Itinera is a member, involves the construction of the Eastern Bypass of Edolo along State Road SS 42 “del Tonale e della Mendola”, a strategic infrastructure connecting the Po Valley to Alto Adige through the main Alpine valleys of Northern Italy. The project aims to bypass the town of Edolo (Province of Brescia), improving traffic flow and addressing the critical issues of the existing urban route, characterized by a narrow tunnel section and the intersection with State Road SS 39 “dell’Aprica”. The new alignment runs along the south-eastern and northern edges of the town, in the direction of Edolo–Bolzano, also marginally affecting the municipality of Sonico. The road cross-section предусматривает one lane in each direction with lateral shoulders (Type C1). The works include the construction of a new roundabout junction, sections along existing roads, a cut-and-cover tunnel of 342 metres, and a natural tunnel of1,444 metres, enabling the bypass of the urban area. The route ends with a new interchange on SS 42 at the crossing of the Oglio River, featuring a single-span arch bridge of 60 metres.
