Description
The project involves the construction of 3.3 km of fully underground alignment and three new stations (Parri-Valsesia, Baggio and Olmi), thereby improving connections between Milan’s city centre and its surrounding districts. The project, awarded to the Consorzio Eteria – of which Itinera is a member – has been developed using BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology, ensuring a comprehensive approach that covers both its physical construction and its environmental impact throughout the entire lifecycle. The planned works incorporate advanced technological solutions, particularly in terms of safety, such as next-generation fire protection systems. In addition, the tunnel will be constructed almost entirely using a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine), commonly known as a “mole,” with the aim of minimizing surface disruption.
