Stockholm Metro: service Tunnel Hagastaden – Arenastaden successfully completed
26 January 2026Itinera has successfully completed the excavation of the service tunnel connecting Hagastaden and Arenastaden as part of the Nya Tunnelbanan – Stockholm Metro Expansion project, commissioned by Region Stockholm. Last week, the final 4 meters of blasting were completed, and with this breakthrough the entire underground stretch between Hagastaden and Arenastaden is now fully completed.
A milestone of major technical and logistical significance: the service tunnel is in fact a key element for the start of the subsequent construction phases, and the completion of this stage is the result of the high level of expertise of the teams involved in the underground works, operating in a complex urban environment and in compliance with stringent safety and sustainability requirements.
A special acknowledgment goes to Andreas Nilsson and the entire Itinera excavation team, together with Hanna Nahlin, Project Manager of Nya Tunnelbanan, and Antonio Cavallaro, Project Director of Itinera Sweden, for their leadership and coordination throughout the works.
