The new section of Bucharest Ring Road opens to traffic

The new section of Bucharest‘s south ring road, which includes the largest elevated roundabout in Romania, opens to traffic. The event took place on May 27 and was attended by Irinel Scriosteanu, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, and Felician Cernestean, Director of the Project Development Department of CNAIR (Compania Națională de Administrare a Infrastructurii Rutiere din România).

ITINERA completed the work commissioned in 2019 by the CNAIR, which consisted in the design and execution of “Oltenita Passage,” between DN4 – the way to Oltenita – and the Bucharest Belt, a crucial road junction for local traffic flow.

Specifically, the project included the enlargement from 2 to 4 lanes of a segment of the ring road and the construction of a new elevated roundabout in mixed steel/concrete ring-shaped structure, with relevant access ramps.
