Contract awarded for the railway track-doubling of the Genga-Serra San Quirico section, Italy

RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) has awarded the joint venture made up by the ETERIA Consortium, of which ITINERA is a member, and SALCEF the contract for the executive design and construction for the doubling of the Genga-Serra San Quirico railway section, on the Orte-Falconara line that crosses central Italy. The intervention is part of the broader plan to strengthen connections between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic sides of the peninsula.

The project, partially financed with “NRRP” (the National Recovery and Resiliency Plan) and whose value is about 374 million euros, consists of the construction of a new line of about 9 km, 7 of which will be a route variant and 2 will run alongside the existing line.

The works include the realization of 6 tunnels, with a total length of 5 km, 4 viaducts, a new road system, as well as the construction of a railway station in Genga, which will be the gateway to the Frasassi Caves tourist hub.
