01 Aug 2023 Contract awarded for the completion of the Salerno metro
The ETERIA consortium, of which ITINERA is a member, has been awarded the tender called by RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) for the design and construction of works for the “Completion of the Salerno metro: Arechi – Pontecagnano Costa d’Amalfi Airport section.”
The project consists of the completion of the Salerno metro, which is already in operation, with an additional 9 km of electrified line and the activation of four new stops.
The total amount of the works, whose execution time will be about 3 years, is about 170 million euros, also financed with funds from the NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan).
The project will enhance both connections to the hospital and university and accessibility to the Salerno – Amalfi Coast airport, with the creation of an integrated mobility offer between the airport and the urban hubs of Salerno and Pontecagnano. The extension of the metro line will also contribute to the development of more sustainable local mobility by decongesting the urban area of Salerno from vehicular traffic.
