The main tunnel of the new road network in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, opens to traffic

The first phase of the Master Plan for the development of the Mina Zayed area in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was successfully completed with the opening of the main tunnel of the new road system. The construction of the tunnel, directional ramps and associated roads were part of phase 1 of the project, which will be followed by further expansion of the local road network. The port area of Mina Zayed is, in fact, destined to become a major commercial hub, connected to the main arteries of the city.

Specifically, the phase 1 works consisted of the construction of open tunnels (2075 m) and closed tunnels on two levels (1325 m), which provide a smooth flow of traffic between the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed bridge and the Sheikh Zayed tunnel /Corniche Road, in both directions, and directional tunnel ramps.

At the same time, a flyover bridge was also built with surface roads, service buildings, underground tunnels, and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) devices.
